PROJECTS
Carbon Credits- Nature Based, 2024
Envoy has formalized agreements with County Governments across East Africa to implement comprehensive Conservation and County-Wide Sustainable Economic Development Plans. As part of these contracts, Envoy has secured conservation and carbon credit rights to approximately 1.6 million hectares of land, with an additional 60 million hectares in the pipeline. This initiative represents a transformational opportunity to sustainably develop remote and historically under-resourced regions while empowering marginalized communities. Profits generated through the protection of these lands—via verified carbon credit projects—will serve as the primary financing mechanism for long-term development. These efforts will focus on improving livelihoods, supporting climate resilience, and driving inclusive economic growth while preserving critical ecosystems.
Net Zero Smart Villages, 2019-2025
In partnership with National Government, the Envoy Africa Investments Consortium pioneered a groundbreaking model for sustainable development in Kenya’s nomadic regions. In 2019, this collaboration led to the establishment of the first Smart Village—an integrated hub that combined water, food, and renewable energy technologies to support local schools and surrounding communities. The initiative aimed to make education accessible and sustainable, particularly for girls and marginalized groups. As a result, school enrollment and retention doubled, the local school rose to become the highest academic performer in the region, and a new digital lab provided young women with quality STEM education and pathways to opportunity.
The impact of the Smart Village extended well beyond the classroom. By providing year-round access to essential resources, the project significantly reduced seasonal migration, and the community population doubled. Public health improved, and tensions related to resource scarcity diminished, contributing to greater local peace and stability. Most remarkably, during prolonged droughts that devastated surrounding areas, the Smart Village remained self-sufficient and resilient—requiring no external aid and even providing support to neighboring communities. This pilot has become a regional benchmark for climate resilience, inclusive development, and scalable, community-driven solutions. Currently, the scale up in 13 different counties is underway through development partners.

Pilot Impact Projects- East Africa, 2017-2025
Envoy launched its first impact investment and sustainable development pilots in 2017 in the remote regions of North Kenya. These initiatives included establishing an adult literacy center, a computer school, an innovation hub, and a sustainable farm. As a result, community literacy improved significantly at the village level, IT skills increased—particularly empowering young women with employability and prosperity opportunities—and micro-enterprises flourished, such as a sewing school business, a posho mill, and a small farm.
Beyond Kenya, Envoy has piloted agricultural and hospitality projects in Rwanda, organic fertilizer initiatives in Tanzania, and community development programs in Uganda. Additionally, the organization has engaged in high-level meetings and consulting across various East African regions to expand its impact. This informed a blueprint for sustainable development and investment.
